Residues from Water Precipitation via Ferric Hydroxide Threaten Soil Fertility

چکیده
From the moment it was first indicated that use of aluminum chloride during purification drinking water might be one triggers Alzheimer’s disease, took only a few years to almost abandon this practice worldwide. Now, two after initial evidence presented cheapest possible replacement for (ferric hydroxide, better known as ferrous sludge) significantly threatens soil fertility, there is no action. A robust case study conducted among European treatment plants. First, reported some samples sludge can reduce phosphorus availability by more than 70%. This creates precondition significant reduction in fertility over decade. Because legislation usually responds similar findings with great delay, extent which managers plants are willing change process settings themselves has also been assessed. The obtained allow us expect long continuation hazardous expected, since show little willingness switch from ongoing questionable technology (harmful nutrient cycles soil) environmentally favorable (though slightly costly) solutions.

nitrate removal from water using granules ferric hydroxide absorbent
background: one of the major sources of drinking water contamination is nitrate. nitrate concentrations of more than the standard levels (45mgl -1 based on nitrate) could cause methemoglobinemia in children. the aim of this study is to investigate the nitrate adsorption on granular ferric hydroxide (gfh). also in this study, the effect of factors such as initial concentration of nitrate, contac...
متن کاملMagnetotactic bacteria form magnetite from a phosphate-rich ferric hydroxide via nanometric ferric (oxyhydr)oxide intermediates.
The iron oxide mineral magnetite (Fe3O4) is produced by various organisms to exploit magnetic and mechanical properties. Magnetotactic bacteria have become one of the best model organisms for studying magnetite biomineralization, as their genomes are sequenced and tools are available for their genetic manipulation. However, the chemical route by which magnetite is formed intracellularly within ...
متن کامل90Y ferric hydroxide colloid.
At the Radiochemical Centre we have recently developed a new 90Y colloid which has greater stability than the currently available 90Y silicate colloid and appears from the results of animal tests to be suitable for the treatment of rheumatoid knee joint effusions. In this report the need for a new 90Y colloid is assessed and the preparation and properties of the new colloid are described. Curre...
متن کاملNote on Colloidal Ferric Hydroxide in Sea Water
If a sol of colloidal ferric hydroxide is added to sea water, or if the hydroxide is formed in sea water by adding a solution of an iron salt, the aggregated molecules of hydroxide coalesce to form flocs which fall rather rapidly as a precipitate. When several thousand mg. of iron are added per cubic metre of sea water, flocculation is immediate; on adding 300-500 mg. Fe per m.3 in sufficiently...
